Yn ‘o’, mae Carwyn Evans yn cyflwyno gwaith sy’n defnyddio ffotograffiaeth, print a cherfluniau i ddod â rhai o’i bryderon am amser, lleoliad, diwylliant, celf a dadleoli at ei gilydd.
Mae’r gweithiau a gyflwynir fan hyn wedi’u datblygu trwy ystyried cyfres o ffotograffau sydd hefyd wedi’i chynnwys yn yr arddangosfa. Fe dynnwyd y ffotograffau yma y tu fewn ac o du fewn i dwnnel polythen a ddefnyddiwyd gan ei dad, sy’n ffarmwr tenant, i gynnig lloches dros dro i’w anifeiliaid yn ystod y tymor wyna. Dewiswyd y ffotograffau yma o 15 mlynedd o ddogfennu ac mae hynny hefyd yn nodi’r un cyfnod ers i’r artist adael cefn gwlad Ceredigion i astudio ac yna i fyw yn y brifddinas.
Ar y llawr gwaelod, cewch weld cyfres newydd o gerfluniau sy’n cynrychioli tirweddau lleol dychmygol ac sy’n symud rhwng realiti amaethyddiaeth heddiw ac amgylchedd yr oriel.
Mae ‘o’ yn arddangosfa sy’n edrych ar dirwedd; perthynas dyn â natur a’r croestorfannau diddorol lle mae natur a diwylliant yn cyfarfod. Mae’r cyflwyniad oriel cysylltiol ‘i’ yn gallery/ten, Caerdydd, yn gymar i’r arddangosfa yma ac mae’n edrych ar elfennau o deyrnas y cartref gyda rhai o’r gweithiau’n ystyried y ‘perfedd’ a’r ‘system dreulio’, er mwyn ehangu’r cysylltiad dychmygol rhwng diwylliant a’r corff.

‘o’ presents work that brings together some of the artist's concerns surrounding notions of time, place, culture, art and displacement through the use of photography, print and sculpture.
The works presented here have been developed from reflecting on a series of photographs that are also featured in the exhibition, taken in and from the interior of a polytunnel used by his father, a tenant farmer, as means of providing temporary shelter to stock during lambing. These photographs have been selected from documentation spanning 15 years, marking the same duration from when the artist left rural Ceredigion to study and then live in the capital city.
A new series of sculptures - situated on the ground floor - present themselves as an imagined topographical landscape which oscillates between the reality of present day agriculture and the gallery environment.
‘o’ is an exhibition that looks at landscape; man’s relationship to nature and the interesting intersections of where nature meets culture. Complementing this show is an associate gallery presentation ‘i’ at gallery/ten, Cardiff, which picks up on aspects of the domestic realm, with some works that reflect on the ‘gut’ and ‘digestion’, which expands on the imaginative connection of culture with the body.
